Via Laurie , a great piece of advice on how to write a bad review. The article talks about book reviews but its advice perfectly applies to paper reviews. In short, the key points are the following:
- Provide context
- Have a little humility about your opinion
- Cut the writer some slack (especially if the author is young)
- Don’t review your enemies
- Don’t be a dick
- Be balanced (i.e. not just focus on the crappy parts)
