RR: How to write a good bad review

Via Laurie , a great piece of advice on how to write a bad review. The article talks about book reviews but its advice perfectly applies to paper reviews. In short, the key points are the following:

  • Provide context
  • Have a little humility about your opinion
  • Cut the writer some slack (especially if the author is young)
  • Don’t review your enemies
  • Don’t be a dick
  • Be balanced (i.e. not just focus on the crappy parts)

Any other advice?
